A gray September day gave way to a festive crowd admiring the brilliant colors of Glen Park’s first major work of public art — a more than 800-square-foot mural celebrating the history of the neighborhood. Towering above the principal wall is a portrait of the women who, in the 1960s successfully fought to stop construction of a multi-lane freeway that would have destroyed this specific area, its homes, and more broadly, the Glen Park community. Their families, now with grandchildren, were the stars of the celebration.
